In Loving Memory
Maria Machado
November 21,1939-July 5, 2026
Maria Machado, 86, peacefully passed away on July 5, 2026. Born in Brazil on November 21, 1939, Maria married Manuel Machado before immigrating to the United States in 1958 to build a life together. After several years working in the dairy industry, Maria and Manuel started their own dairy in Galt in 1966 with just eight cows. They later moved to Elk Grove before settling in Wilton in 1971, where they continued building their dairy business and the life they shared.
Maria was a woman of deep faith who relied on God throughout her life. She enjoyed the comforts of home and being surrounded by family and friends. She also remained connected to her family in Brazil throughout the years. She looked forward each morning to her coffee and bread, whether massa sovada (Portuguese sweet bread), toast, or other breads. Her television was almost always tuned to a telenovela. She enjoyed taking walks around the dairy property. When her sons were young, she loved singing Brazilian songs to them. These simple moments and traditions were a reflection of the life Maria loved and the home she and Manuel built together over many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel Machado, in 1997, her parents, and ten siblings.
She is survived by her two sons, Manny Machado and Americo Machado, five grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren: Americo Jr. (Chasity) and their children, Americo III (Tres), Amarys, Moriah, Estrella, and Amos; Mario (Imelda), and his children, Mario Jr., Jayden, and Jesiah; Marisa (Thomas Van Steen), and their children, Trinity, Heaven, and Thomas Jr.; Michael (Mariana) and their children, Leandro, Matias, Alvaro, and Kinsley; and Mason and his children, Amaya and Mila.
She also was blessed with four great-great-grandchildren: Noa and Maverick, children of Jayden and his fiancee, Kiana; and Lucia and Micah, children of Mario Jr. and Andrea.
She is also survived by six siblings: Sonia Regina, Carlos, Orlando, Luis Carlos, Mario Cesar, and Paulo Roberto.

My Beloved Aunt, There are no words to describe the emptiness your passing has left in our hearts. What brings us comfort is knowing that your faith in Christ has reunited you with my parents, and that today you are together once again. We will forever miss your loving heart, your kindness, and your gentle spirit. With all our love, Cida and Raul

My sincere condolences to Tia Maria’s immediate and extended family for your great loss. She was a wonderful Tia and took us in, a family of 9, when we arrived from the Azores in December of 1968. She gave all of us such a warm welcome. I’m glad I had the chance to visit with her a couple of years ago and share good memories. May she rest in peace in the arms of Jesus ✝️
