Susanne Marietta Hudson

                                             April 5, 1945 - December 24, 2025

Susanne Marietta Hudson, age 80, of Elk Grove, California passed away at home on December 24, 2025.

Suzanne (better known as Marietta) was born on April 5, 1945, in Modesto, California. She was the third child of Umberto “Al” Bondi and Helen Jones. She was welcomed by her older brother Bradley Bondi, and older sister Carolyn “Cissy” Bondi (Shelly). She moved to Elk Grove as a teenager where she attended Elk Grove High School. Marietta was a talented artist, and songster at EGHS. She graduated in 1963 and met her husband Ronald Hudson shortly after. They married in 1964 before Ron was stationed in San Diego. Her in-laws, Andy Hudson, and Vivian Hudson welcomed her into the family. They moved to Sacramento after Ron was discharged where they bought their first house on 21st Avenue. They welcomed their first child, Jamie, shortly after. They went on to build a home where they welcomed their second child Andrew. They moved to Modesto shortly after he was born. Marietta was a dedicated stay-at-home mom who quickly became the neighborhood mom to many children. She always had at least one extra child hanging around the house, usually 4 or 5. She created a welcoming home for those who needed it most, and devoted herself to her family. The family settled in Elk Grove in 1984. During this time, Marietta raised her children, and began her career at Gemco. She stayed with the company as it changed many names, becoming a member of the UFCW. She eventually moved into the bakery department and put her artistic abilities to work creating stunning cakes that she became known for. She retired from Save Mart, bought the beloved house her grandfather Ira Jones built, dedicated herself to being a loving grandmother of 6, and caring for her husband. Marietta adored her nieces, nephews, and friends. She loved music, her dog “Doodles”, boxing, UFC fighting, and really loved her sweets.

Marietta was preceded in death by many beloved family members and friends including: her parents, her in-laws, her brother, her sister, her brother-in-laws, her sister-in-laws, and three nephews.

Marietta is survived by her husband of 61 years Ronald Hudson. She is also survived by her two children Jamie Porter (Bryan), and Andrew Hudson; her six grandchildren Garrett Norton (Shelby), Taryn Norton, Kyndel Norton (Mateo), Tessa Porter, Gavin Hudson, and Owen Hudson; her three great-grandchildren Sutton Norton, Sawyer Norton, and Luca Pico. As well as nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.

A memorial service will be held on:

January 24, at 1:00 pm

At the Herberger Family Funeral Chapel.
